2008
AADP Events
USATF
also taking advantage of an existing program
called AADP. This is the Association Athlete
Development Program. AADP is designed
to offer up-and-coming runners and "local
elites" the opportunity to compete
in the USATF National Championship events
as elite athletes and with financial support.
The program is a three-way partnership
between the participating races (who pony-up
travel money, hotel rooms, free entries,
ground transport, meals, etc.), us at
the Association level who select athletes
and the Long Distance Running Committee,
the Men's AADP Coordinator, administers
the program. Nearly all AADP participants
come away from the events with a new,
positive attitude toward post-collegiate
running and their place in it. The money
offered to offset expenses is between
$100-$200 depending on the race. These
athletes will be considered by the Long
Distance Running Committee. Other considerations
are availability and meeting the standards
set for qualification.
